Feeling my age...

So there have been a few things lately that have made me say, "Yep, I'm definitely 33..."
The stomach pooch that stays even when I suck in my hardest...
The gray shadows that seem to stay under my eyes...
The stomach gurgle after eating foods that I used to proudly pack away like a grown man (chili cheese dog with onions anyone?? And yes I know that this may a be the direct cause of #1, ha!)
But this one takes the cake for the moment.
After explaining to Lil Mini 1 that her father and I met in college and that we got married at our church because the lady gets to choose most of the wedding stuff (deep conversations we're having folks), somehow we got around to cell phones and she asked,
"So did you take your cell phone to school" and I smiled and said,
"The didn't have cell phones when I was in school. Just phones in your house."
She looked at me with the 'you don't get my question' look and said,
"No I mean phones that you could leave your house with, you know... like a cell phone" HA!
Funny how it's completely ridiculous to her that this may have never existed. Mind Blown. hehehe

All the little things...

is it not true that it's all the little things that make the "big" moments in life. Well, I also know that it's the little things that will push you over the crazy edge. I'm not shy to say that I've been there more times than I'd like and it's not until I stop everything and get something "back the way it should be" that I start to feel the balance of peace shifting back in my favor.

So in no particular order, my little things of late. Good and those inching me towards crazy...

• Dry winter hair. Seriously I need a hair dresser for myself and the girls. I've been undoing and redoing my twist bun for about 2 weeks now...shame...

• I really do love winter in the south! At a moment's notice everyone drops everything and heads home to prep for the possibility of snow/ice. When we didn't, well we saw that craziness... So I've deemed snow as God giving the southern momma/woman a much needed break. Bunker down, no one expects anything from you but a creative dish from the back of the pantry/freezer, kiddos running around in their sleepers all day, and a few snuggles.

• Lil Mini 1 offering to make lunch for Lil Mini 2, yes please! Who invented the sandwich and how do I thank her?

• Crumbs!!! Seriously who is eating in all these rooms and are they doing it cookie monster style???

• A husband who sees my crazy coming, lays low until it passes, and then hugs me tight in the aftermath as if to say, "don't worry, we made it" Ha!

• Pinterest. Oh how many little happy moments have a found over there???

• Doing better with my Bible reading/studying goal. Verse by verse I'm seeing how God has always loved us and how I can be more obedient.

• Not filling that acne prescription from the doc years ago. What was I thinking??

• When all the socks on any particular laundry day pair up... crazy how this makes me smile and feel very accomplished. Like I beat the dryer monster...

• When a beautiful song gets stuck in my head, right now it's John Legend's All of Me. It's a sweet feeling to catch yourself humming about love.

• A pile up of good shows on the DVR and at least an hour of nap time to watch them.

So to all the little things: Some days you win and I wrestle with how not to be overcome by big messes made by little hands and some days I can sit and marvel at how full my life is by the compiling of lovely moments.
